INSPIRE Registry
The INSPIRE infrastructure relies on a wide range of items, such as INSPIRE themes, code lists, application schemas and discovery services, that each need a clear description and a unique, persistent identifier so they can be referenced reliably.
Registers provide the means to do this. They assign identifiers to items and record their labels, definitions and descriptions, each available in multiple languages. As such, they are a form of reference data: authoritative, managed sets of concepts with stable identifiers. The INSPIRE Registry brings these together, offering a single access point to a number of centrally managed INSPIRE registers. Their content is based on the INSPIRE Directive, its Implementing Rules and the accompanying Technical Guidelines.

As of 1 July 2026, the INSPIRE Registry is part of EU Vocabularies. Existing identifiers and links under inspire.ec.europa.eu continue to resolve, and API access works as before, so applications that rely on the original INSPIRE Registry remain valid.
Suggestions for changes to the INSPIRE registers can be submitted to the INSPIRE Registry helpdesk on Github.
