The Publications Office (OP) uses METS (Library of Congress standard) as the exclusive ingestion format for its Common Content and Metadata Repository (Cellar) and the long term archive (EUDOR). In addition to the creation/update of complete metadata entities in Cellar (as done with Cellar METS-1 profile format), the Cellar METS-2 supports also the deletion and update of singular properties on a given entity and the removal (deletion) of entities from Cellar. The level of granularity of operations is given by the scope of a resource, e.g., work, expression, or manifestation. The extended support of provenance information in the METS-2 header made this profile the choice for data ingestions into the long term archive EUDOR.
